LDM21 laser fit

Hey,
I'm now trying to install the DJ532-40 laser into the LDM21 cooler. As you can see in the pictures though, it doesn't seem to provide a very reliable fit (as the LDM21 is not directly compatible, as I understand). Should I try to scrape away the green material to allow the laser to fit? What would you recommend? Thanks

I would try scrapping it off; mine didn't come with that green goo :/

Mine had the green goo but it didn't stick up above the heatsink. Pics attached.
